- Preliminary Notice
- A notice a contractor or supplier sends early in a project to preserve the right to file a lien later if unpaid. Missing this deadline can forfeit lien rights entirely in many states.
- Perfecting a Lien
- Completing every statutory step notice, filing deadline, content requirements needed for a lien to be legally enforceable. An imperfect lien can often be challenged and released.
